PARU: Echoes of Clay
Arte Clube Jacarandá · 2024
PARU: Echoes of Clay is the first group exhibition dedicated to ceramic artists in Rio de Janeiro. The project brings together a diverse group of practitioners who revisit and expand upon the ancestral tradition of ceramics, situating clay not only as a material but as a living language within contemporary art. By assembling artists who mold, transform, and reinterpret clay, the exhibition highlights the material's capacity to transcend its utilitarian associations and emerge as a medium of cultural continuity and reinvention. Clay, historically tied to daily use and ritual, becomes here a powerful vehicle for memory, identity, and experimentation.
The exhibition emphasizes how ceramics, long perceived as craft or applied art, can operate as a central medium within contemporary poetics. Through works that combine traditional processes with experimental forms, PARU: Echoes of Clay positions ceramics as a space where history and innovation converge.
