About the series

The series Roteiros (Itineraries) occupies a decisive place in Aldones Nino's practice, transforming photography into a material, affective, and historical cartography. Made using mixed technique — printing on fabric and embroidery — the works depart from fragmented photographic images reorganized over blue surfaces, crossed by lines that correspond to intersections of latitude and longitude. By bringing these routes together, this series constructs an expanded image of migration, in which biography, intellectual formation, and art history intertwine. The embroidered lines inscribe onto the fabric an intimate, yet also political, geography: they connect family trajectories of internal displacement in Brazil to a transatlantic circulation tied to the artist's own formation.
