About the work

Composição Nº 3 consists of twenty-four art history books, covered with pages from the Federal Constitution and the Bible. By wrapping these volumes in fragments of legal and religious texts, the work foregrounds an overlap between three regimes of authority. Art history books, traditionally associated with the organization of knowledge, the classification of images, and the construction of canons, cease to appear as neutral instruments of cultural transmission. Covered by the Constitution and the Bible, they become bodies traversed by other normative structures, revealing that what we understand as history is also produced by systems of power, belief, and jurisdiction.
